Founded in 1894 as a planned community, Del Ray quickly became a bustling streetcar community. While the electric rail lines that brought on the boom have vanished, Del Ray has remained a focal point of the City of Alexandria and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.
 
Del Ray, home of the charming Mount Vernon Ave, Where Main Street Still Exists, boasts locally owned shops, restaurants, fitness studios, music studios, and boutiques.
